Each fall, the Carolina Asia Center will announce a competition for summer student internships at the Southern Oral History Program with the theme of Southern Mix. Each internship will offer a $2,500 summer stipend to students who will train in the practical work of oral history at the SOHP. Students will learn best practices and also conduct interviews with Asian American volunteers solicited by the Asia Center and the SOHP. These interviews, as well as transcriptions, will enter the public, open-access collections of the SOHP.
- $2,500 will support a one-time, expendable internship award to a student.
- $50,000 would endow a permanent annual summer internship award of $2,500.
